I work as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and as such integrate different approaches into my therapeutic work:
Psychodynamic Approach - tries to help clients make sense of their current situation, by exploring experiences from the past as well as the present. The hope is, that by exploring these issues and reliving unresolved or repressed feelings within the therapeutic relationship, an opportunity for change will be provided.
Existential Approach - emphasises uncertainties and anxieties we can experience while trying to find meaning in life for which we are responsible through discovering our own guiding values. The aim of existential therapy is to learn to accept responsibility for own thoughts, feelings and actions and become aware how the choices we make influence the direction of our life; furthermore to accept anxiety as part of the human condition and change as an inevitable part of life.
Cognitive-Behavioural Approach - is an active and structured approach. It emphasises recognizing and changing negative thoughts or/and maladaptive beliefs.
As an accredited and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical frameworks.
